Unique Adoptions is an extension of Be Unique Unlimited t/a Unique Welfare NPC and is managed by Wilmarie Janse van Rensburg. The Unique Adoptions website originated from the need to assist the Unique Welfare Inspectors, filed Officers and Ethical Animal Welfare Ambassadors who have their own shelters and who is also focuses on adoptions. We rate the adoption of an animal as one of the most important things a human can do. But it must be done right and with care to prevent any future abandonment and/or neglect or the unnecessary growth in population numbers. The support towards adoptions are not about money, it’s about finding good homes for animals who all deserve it and who may be up for adoption due to some form of human abandonment and/.or neglect and abuse. The sterilisations of animals is a primary focus for us and is non-negotiable. Although breeding may not currently be an unlawful act, in most cases it leads to abandonment, neglect and abuse. We urge you please for this reason not to partake in breeding and to rather help us in our enormous quest to stop over population of domestic animals by supporting adoptions and always insisting and physically or financially helping people and organisations who need help with sterilisations.

Our support extends to:

  • Ambassadors in the field
Each student who completes our training and qualifies as an Animal Inspector or Field Officer forms part of our daily communications group where support, training and guidance is given daily by our organisation by affiliated and experienced personnel. Each Inspector can also promote their shelter/animals on the Unique Adoptions website.
  • Animal Welfare Organisations
Any animal welfare organisation can contact us for assistance to train up one or more of their staff to become Field Ambassadors (Animal Inspectors or Field Officers) or for any legal assistance related to animal welfare matters. (Financial Assistance can be applied for. Terms and conditions apply). info@beunique.co.za
  • The Public
Our Field Ambassadors (Animal Inspectors and Field Officers) are available to assist the public with complaints, concerns and education related to animal welfare. These services are free to the public, but donations are always welcome because besides love that is free, it costs money to do call outs, feed and care for animals. We assist with sterilisation campaigns as often as we can and the compilation of animal management plans where needed due to the fact that our legislation is so outdated and is unfortunately not catering properly for the change in how humans and animals co-exist at the moment. (We are here to help you and the animals and ask your help in return please. Together we can change the world).
  • Corporates/Organisations
Our organisation assists many estates / property developers / companies with the correct and lawful implementation of animal welfare rules according to the law. We also assist with the enforcement of these laws where necessary to ensure the welfare of the animals. We assist with Environmental skills development training which is a skills development requirement for corporates and part of their CSI/CSR initiatives. (This service is free to companies/organisations however donations are welcome to help us cover our costs and continue our services. To book a session for your staff please email wilmarie@beunique.co.za).

Our aim through this website is to reach new potential adoptees on a national level to help our Unique Family to advertise the animals that are in their care to a much wider ‘audience’ with care and precision. All Inspectors/Organisations are required to do home checks, sterilise animals, obtain adoption agreements and follow up regularly with adopter Families.

“Currently our animal population is too big for the amount of human homes available. In a perfect world, each person should house, feed and care for approximately 20 animals…..That is 40 animals per couple. This does not include wildlife. This is not possible due to some by-laws, financial implications and other reasons. Please do your part, Sterilise and Adopt responsibly for life….not just for a season”
